World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive year.
The 27-year-old captured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and collected a record £11m in prize money.
She garnered almost 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a higher level".
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
