FC Barcelona Ready for First Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome the Bilbao team in the Spanish league 30 months since relocating for construction to commence.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou earlier this month. The club said they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to host the next European match facing Eintracht in December in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
