Lawrence has expressed that she believes it's no longer fitting to speak out countering the Trump administration, fearing it could intensify divisive discussions and deepen rifts throughout the nation.
During a discussion, she reflected, “When Trump was first in office, I thought I was running around in a panicked state. But it’s become clear, election after election, Hollywood stars do not make a difference at all on electoral choices.”
She continued, “Why continue? I’m just sharing my opinion on a matter that’s going to worsen tensions tearing the country apart.”
The actress has spoken candidly about supporting conservative and liberal contenders in past elections. Brought up by a right-leaning family in Kentucky, she voted for the Republican nominee in 2008 prior to switching to the left-leaning politics and revealing she recognized during the Obama era that voting Republican was opposing her personal freedoms as a woman.
Several years ago, she stated that Donald Trump’s election would be “the end of the world” and endorsed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. In the latest campaign, she lent her support to Kamala Harris, “since I believe she’s an excellent choice and I know that she will do whatever she can to protect women’s health rights.”
Jennifer Lawrence was supported by most of Hollywood in her opposition to Donald Trump as a candidate for re-election, but the lack of leverage celebrities have over the electoral decisions was highlighted by his election win.
“Another four years seems distinct,” commented Lawrence about his leadership. “Since he said what he was going to do. We were aware of his actions for his first term. He was very clear. And that’s what we chose.”
Lawrence is discussing Die, My Love, Lynne Ramsay’s project in which she stars as a young mom who struggles with her psychological well-being in rural Montana. Speaking at a media event for the movie in Venice, Lawrence spoke about the conflict in Gaza: “I’m terrified. It’s horrifying. What’s happening is no less than a atrocity and it’s awful.”
Lawrence added by saying that she was disappointed by “the hostility in the discussions of U.S. political debates currently and how that is going to be commonplace to the kids right now. It’s going to be standard to them that leaders are untruthful.”
The actor aimed to shift anger about the conflict to leaders rather than celebrities. “Keep attention on those accountable,” she remarked, in what many took to be a nod to the declaration signed by numerous Hollywood professionals to refuse engagement with Israeli film institutions.
Jennifer Lawrence, who won an Oscar early in her career for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, is receiving praise for her portrayal in her latest project. Even though the director has rejected the narrative being seen as one of post-birth struggles and psychosis, she revealed that she did relate to aspects of her character’s journey after the arrival of her new baby, shortly after shooting ended.
“I felt anxiety about my child,” she commented, “envisioning every worst-case scenario, and then questioning everything that I was doing. I was seeing a therapist, but I got on a drug called the prescription and I used it for 14 days and it made a difference.”
Jennifer Lawrence also discussed regarding the liberating necessity of shooting revealing sequences in the project while she was expecting and unable to exercise.
“It’s refreshing,” she commented, of being forced to cast off vanity. “Truly, I do have moments where I’m like, How exactly do I differ between myself and a sex worker? But it isn’t a major concern.”
