'Living a Nightmare': Loved Ones of Missing Teens Desperately Seek Information After Alpine Inferno

The loved ones of teens unaccounted for after a devastating fire at a venue in a Swiss winter destination are enduring an painful wait for official news and requesting any details about their loved ones online.

The inferno ripped through the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of New Year's Day. Confirmed images reveal the ceiling catching alight as bottles with fireworks are held aloft.

Authorities have warned that it could take considerable time to formally name the those who perished of the fire, which claimed the lives of numerous partygoers and injured another 119. A spokesperson stated on the latest update that 113 of the those hurt have been accounted for, with work continuing to locate the other six.

In the waiting period, relatives have been using online platforms to request any news about their missing relatives who were at the bar that evening.

Appeals for the Missing

The whereabouts of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are currently unknown, according to an heartfelt request from his parent.

The resident of Lutry near the city, explained to a local newspaper that she had returned to Lausanne to check whether he was in the hospital, while his father did the same in the capital, but could not find him.

"I'm living a nightmare, a horror. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in intensive care. It's horrific," she told the paper.

She added that some of his companions had been discovered with injuries covering nearly half their bodies. "There are no words; they experienced an absolute nightmare."

The Italy's government has confirmed that a number of of its citizens remain missing.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old junior golfer, who hailed from Genoa but now living in Dubai.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is no longer with us, without directly referencing the fire, honoring a "young athlete who carried with him dedication and authentic values."

His parent, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An official spokesperson has stated that a formal confirmation of his death is not yet.

Further Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise among the missing. His parent said that he had been on holiday but had gone out with a group and found himself at the bar.

"A close friend said they ran away after the fire erupted and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she said, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his teachers commented, "I've always been struck by his kindness and positive demeanor, combined with great responsibility. He would frequently ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to sources.

Her sibling has shared an appeal online, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.
