Palestinian-American Teenager Freed After Nine Months in Israel's Custody

An Palestinian-American teenager after completing nine months in imprisonment by Israel without charge gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 during his detention last February throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing from his Florida home for allegedly throwing stones at Jewish settlers, claims he consistently denied.

United States authorities applauded Mohammed's liberation.

Now sixteen years old, needed medical care right after being freed, family members reported.

They said he is showing signs of malnutrition, and experiencing medical problems developed during imprisonment.

Via family representatives, the youth's uncle expressed the family's "immense relief".

Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"At this moment, our priority is ensuring Mohammed receives the immediate medical attention he needs after being subjected to mistreatment by authorities and brutal treatment for months."

US officials stated they would maintain to provide consular support to Mohammed's family.

{"The Trump Administration has no higher priority than the safety and security of US citizens"," the department emphasized.

A group of American legislators submitted a formal letter to the state department and the White House, requesting additional efforts to release him.

The father, parent of four children operating an ice cream shop based in Tampa, previously said his son only confessed to throwing stones due to physical abuse.

The father hadn't visited or spoken to Mohammed following the detention, and only heard regarding the treatment through judicial records.

The teenager remained lacking indictment in Ofer prison throughout the occupied territory.

Additionally housing grown detainees, some of whom have been convicted for major terrorist activities including killings.

There are around 350 Palestinian child security detainees being held in Israeli jails, based on prison authority data.

Many have never been charged along with monitoring agencies, including UN bodies, say some have suffered physical abuse and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, the uncle stated they would maintain their efforts for justice for his cousin their cousin Sayfollah.

This young American-Palestinian according to health authorities died from beating by Israeli settlers following tensions in July.

Initially, military authorities reported they were examining reports a Palestinian civilian had been killed.

Both young men collaborated in the family ice cream shop from Tampa.

No charges have been filed regarding Sayfollah's death.

"We expect US authorities to safeguard our relatives," family representatives emphasized.
