The president stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Attendees came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support law enforcement in DC.
“Sarah was the individual that instructors wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”
Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Authorities have accused a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The event led the government to suspend asylum applications and halt granting visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.
Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on the program that she also intended to speak to the family.
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with honor, per the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
