The latest action-packed title that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for embracing violence and madness with the same excitement, all while weaving engaging, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two producers whose creations have embodied all of those things.
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' structure by having a fresh location and cast of characters in every instalment.
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we do not know what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners always encourages me with their ongoing belief and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can change from year to year, while always delving into the core of people through this complex and unpredictable viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to work with Rob and bring our common unconventional, daring style to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
