Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the duo.
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt prepared to express about his profound loss.
"Enough time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started spending more time together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the film, commenting that he doesn't recollect "a single day without mirth".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
In a different tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge agreed to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the active case.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of homicide, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
In the wake of the tragedy, public personalities expressed varying responses.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making controversial statements that were broadly criticized by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the those speaking out recently. Talking on his program, Rogan labeled the comments as "disappointing" and implied they demonstrated a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by proposing that an aide should have acted when the impulse to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
